    TRAVELING OVERLAND TO INDIA IN 1970 I STOPPED IN HERAT FOR TWO WEEKS,I HAVE USED GOOGLE TO TRY AND LOCATE THE MARKET WHICH WAS IN AN OLD MUD FORT ,AND THE ENTERANCE TO A MOSQUE WITH BEAUTIFUL BLUE TILES AND THE POST OFFICE WHICH WAS CLOSE AND A MEETING PLACE FOR HIPPIES.THERE WERE HARDLY ANY ROADS, THE CITY HAS GROWN .I FELT QUITE SAD, IT WAS A HAPPY PLACE FOR ME , MY MEMORIES SEEM TO BE ALL THAT IS LEFT OF THAT TIME
